I’ve been dying to do some traveling and I finally got up to Glacier National Park in Montana. The best part was that I was able to hang out and doing some fishing with my Mom.
Glacier is the crown of the Continent. It’s the headwaters for streams that flow to the Pacific Ocean, the Gulf of Mexico and Hudson’s Bay. What happens here affects waters in a huge section of North America. Human use of the park dates back more than 10,000 years. Numerous Native American tribes utilized the area in and around the park for hunting, fishing, ceremonies, and gathering plants. The Blackfeet controlled the prairies on the east side of Glacier when the first white explorers showed up, while other tribes lived on the forested west side.
Explorations to the area by white trappers opened the area up to trading among European settlers and tribal communities. Today, the 1.5-million acre Blackfeet Indian Reservation shares Glacier’s eastern border and is home to about 8,600 members of the Blackfeet Nation. The Flathead Indian Reservation is home to approximately 7,000 members of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes of the Flathead Nation.
Mom and I had the best weekend ever, we hiked and fished and swam! It was so exciting, the water temperature was in the 60’s so we froze our buts off jumping in the water, but I caught a fish. Hold on… I need to catch my breath! Ok… you’ll see and I’ll stop talking.
I sure do hope you enjoy this movie, ’cause I sure had fun making it just for you.
See you soon.
Love, Bella
