This week i went to the Jefferson Memorial in Washington, DC. Thomas Jefferson is a hero of mine, because he focused the thinking of our nation’s best and brightest toward the task of advancing not pure reason, but human life as an end in itself.

Mr. Jefferson became the leader of the American Enlightenment because of this his concern with the “human implications” of intellectual pursuits. In countless arenas—scientific, cultural, and political, Jefferson was much more than just a philosopher and statesman of freedom.

Having penned the declaration of Independence, Jefferson was most certainly a terrific writer, but he wasn’t a great public speaker like me.

Hope you enjoy my visit.

Love, Bella!
