Even though were still just puppies, we hiked Mt. Baldy in Claremont, CA today. It was Lola and my first adventure outside the house. Dad drove us up to the top of Mt. Baldy and we hiked all the way down to the bottom. Mt. Baldy is officially named Mount San Antonio and it is the highest peak of the San Gabriel Mountains, and the highest point in Los Angeles County. The peak is within the San Gabriel Mountains National Monument and Angeles National Forest. When American settlers arrived and saw the bare fell-field of Baldy Bowl that dominates the south face visible from Los Angeles, Mt. Baldy became the predominant name, and it has stuck ever since. Mount Baldy’s sometimes snow-capped peaks are visible on clear days and dominate the view of the Los Angeles Basin skyline.

Because we were hiking down the mountain, we got to play in a stream that ran straight down the middle of the trail. Lola seemed a little concerned about everything at first because we smelled some coyotes in the brush. Lola can be a bit of a nervous nelly at times. By the end of the day though, she was having a great time and we made it home safe and sound.

See you soon,

Love Bella & Lola!
